Spraying of a non-stick-coating NSC 45
as a measurement against residues of paper and coating on dryer roll´s surface

Paper machine:

design speed: 650 m/min
paper quality: 125 – 250 g/qm,
single or double side coated papers

Problem:

In the group of dryer rolls behind the on-line coater major problems appeared with stickies and residues on surfaces of dryer rolls. As a result it came to paper tears and unwanted wrinkling of the paper.

Works performed:

The first two rolls behind the on-line coater have been ground to the correct shape and a corosion resistant non-stick-coating NSC 45 has been sprayed onto roll´s surfaces.

Result:

• The paper tears and the wrinkling of the paper has significantly been reduced.
• The stickies/residues on the cylinder surfaces have decreased and therefore the cleaning intervals could be extended.
• The life cycle of the doctor blades for cleaning have considerably been extended.
