Spraying the surface of a heavily worn Yankee dryer with carbide coating and optimizing the condensate removal system

Problem:

The operator of a board machine in Spain had problems with the declining product quality. The Yankee dryer´s surface was porous and the wall thickness of the cylinder´s shell has been dramatically reduced by the frequent grindings.
The result: poor paper quality due to inadequate cylinder surface.
 


Works performed:

  • Grinding of the Yankee dryer.
  • Spraying a new, highly  corrosion resistant hard metal coating.
  • Optimization of the existing condensate removal system, replacing the inner condensate system by a redesigned construction.

Result:

The optimization measures described above led to an immediate improvement in quality of production.
The life cycle of the Yankee has been extended by the coating for many more years.
The grinding intervals are now approximately three times as long as they were before the coating.
