Repair of existing grooves ...

In addition to the application of new grooves the restoring of  already existing grooves could be a necessary step. This is especially true when the roll shape previously had to be  optimized with a contour grind. Some of the existing grooving might have been reduced to a depth lower than required for operation by wear and tear, and of course some of the grooving depth might have been reduced with the necessary grinding procedure.

Also in these cases our mobile grooving machine will be used, to restore a constant and optimal depth of the grooves and  to ensure the optimal operation of the cylinder in the future.

New service offering at JAEGER GmbH:
grooves in surface of support rolls ...

An additional service has been added to the range of services, the JAEGER GmbH is able to offer to it´s customers: the application of grooves into cylinder surfaces. Of course  perfectly executed and with a clean deburring of the edges ...

In order to prevent lifting of the paper web from the cylinder surface at faster machine speeds,  longitudinal grooves are milled into the surface of the support rolls. That should prevent the formation of air pockets getting between material and roll which will break the contact necessary for  a good traction.

Besides the classic grooving in machine direction of approximately 10% of the surface, there is another option for additional grooves with radius that are more flat and at the same time wider and in diagonal direction. This further improves the removal of air pockets between material and roller.

Of course, the grooves should not leave any marks on the paper web. The better the grooving is done, the easier the cleaning of the pollutions apearing during the operation will be. To carry out this work, we developed a machine, that is able to do the grooving in situ (just like our grinders).   ►►
